Scienceplusfiction visits Film4FrightFest – Pt.2
Our trip to London
…the second half of FrightFest 2007 has been characterised by the prominence of in-your-face horror movies, with highlights such as Cold Prey, Waz and The Orphanage. Norwegian slasher Cold Prey has caught the attention of the audience thanks to the unusual setting in the snowy mountains and to the ability of director Roar Uthaug to keep the tension high throughout the whole movie. Waz marks a variation on the serial killer theme, with great performances by Stellan Skarsgaard and Selma Blair. The Orphanage closed the festival in the best possible way, with its unique atmosphere and a screenplay close to perfection.
