From August, 2nd till August, 27th at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, scienceplusfiction – in collaboration with the American Cinematheque and the 7th edition of the Fantasy Sci Fi Horror Festival - presents NEW EUROPEAN SCI FI HORROR SHOWCASE: 3 movies selected and programmed by the team behind Trieste International Science Fiction Festival, scienceplusfiction. The movies have been screened in Trieste last November: Swedish teen horror movie FROSTBITE, directed by Anders Banke, is the first ever Swedish vampire movie, and was awarded with a Special Mention at scienceplusfiction; GHOST SON, starring Laura Harring and John Hannah, is cult director Lamberto Bava’s last effort and was theatrically released in Italy last May; NOS AMIS LES TERRIENS is the first movie directed by French sci-fi novelist Bernard Werber, and is produced by Simon Lelouch, son of director Claude Lelouch.
Amongst the other screenings at the LA festival, there will be TRAPPED ASHES, directed by Joe Dante, Monte Helman, Ken Russell, John Gaeta and Sean Cunningham: this movie too was presented as a special preview in Trieste last year.
Not to be missed are tributes to Kurt Vonnegut and Curtis Harrington, with WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH HELEN and a double bill with SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE and the rare HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA JUNE.
